Next up is the Rucksack.
How it got its name: A rucksack is another name for a backpack. This carry is basically like making a backpack with your wrap. Fun right?
Why we like it: The Rucksack Carry is a great carry for a short wrap; though you can do it with a long wrap---you will just have longer tails. There’s less fabric across baby’s back, so this is a cool carry for baby to be in. (With this summer heat, we like cool carries.) If you have long tails or feel that the shoulder straps may slide off your shoulders then you can do a Tibetan Tie*. Once you get this carry down, it becomes a super fast wrap carry.
Keep in mind that if this is your first time doing a back carry or even this
particular carry, you should have a spotter and/or practice over a soft
surface such as a bed or a couch. You can even practice with a doll or stuffed animal first until you feel comfortable.
Tune in next week to see what Wrap Carry we'll feature next!
